Privacy Policy
The Diversity in Philanthropy Project (the Project) has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate its firm commitment to the privacy of website users. The following paragraphs describe the Project's information gathering and dissemination practices. The privacy statement may change at any time; however, any changes will be posted on this page.
The following topics describe how the Project uses information voluntarily submitted by visitors to this site, www.diversityinphilanthropy.org
Email Privacy – Your email address will only be used by the Project for business purposes related to its charitable work and substantive aims. The Project does not sell or rent email addresses. If you do not wish to receive email correspondence, please submit a request to be removed from our list at: info@diversityinphilanthropy.org
Use of IP addresses and Cookies – A unique number called an IP address identifies every computer on the Internet. Each time you connect to the Internet your machine is assigned an IP address. An IP address is a number that identifies each sender or receiver of information that is sent in packets across the Internet. The Project uses your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer this website.
"Cookies" are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but if you prefer, you can edit your browser options to block them in the future. The Project uses cookies to maintain user session identity, and, in some cases, to store usernames and passwords locally for ease of access.
Optional Reporting Data – The Project's website will occasionally request users to provide contact information (such as name and email address) and demographic data. User information is utilized to contact site visitors when necessary. Data gleaned from user input are intended to help the Project better understand its constituencies and their evolving needs, in order to better serve them. In all instances, the requested user information is voluntary and in no case, unless otherwise indicated in advance and/or authorized by users, will visitors’ private data or identities be publicized.
External Links – www.diversityinphilanthropy.org contains links to other external websites that do not fall under the diversityinphilanthropy.org domain. The Project is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such external websites. If you choose to follow such links to external websites, you thus do so at your own risk.
Surveys – www.diversityinphilanthropy.org occasionally conducts online surveys to ask respondents for contact information (such as email address) and demographic information (such as zip code and age). The Project also may infrequently use contact data from its surveys to disseminate information about its work that would logically serve key stakeholder groups and philanthropic leaders.
Public Forums – Over time, this site may make chat rooms, forums, email lists and message boards available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas potentially becomes broadly-disseminated public information and so you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose any personal information in conjunction with the site’s use. Although the Project tries to protect your personal information when you are using these public forums, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit in the course of using any one or more of the site’s pages; you thus do so at your own risk.
Security – This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of information under the Project’s control.
